A consistent end-of-tenancy property review

Move-Out Rental Inspection Checklist

Revisit the rooms, items, and observations documented at move-in. Keep names and photo angles consistent, record what is present or missing, and compare the two reports carefully.

Start with the original report

Use the move-in record as your guide. If you created the later inspection by duplicating the earlier one in Inspecterfly, shared room and item identifiers help the comparison tool pair records. Independently created inspections can still be reviewed, but naming differences may leave items unmatched.

Take comparable photos

For each important finding, capture a wide view to identify the room and a closer view to show detail. When practical, repeat the original camera position and distance. Label each image with the room and feature, and mention anything that makes the new image different, such as furniture, lighting, or restricted access.

Compare both records, not just the labels

Open the move-in and move-out comparison guide, then use the comparison tool to review the saved records. Read the notes and inspect both sets of photos: an automated status or unmatched item is a prompt for careful review, not a finding about how a change occurred.
